Aboriginal artists and talented community members have been invited to enter an artwork competition to choose a cover design for Far West Local Health District’s new Aborginal Workforce Plan.
The name of the Aboriginal Workforce Plan is Karkanya Yura Marri and is Barkandji for The Sky That Way. Aboriginal artists are invited to submit an artwork that reflects the LHD’s commitment to the plan to aim high and develop the Aboriginal workforce across all levels of the LHD as well as ensure the workforce reflects our communities.
‘The Aboriginal Workforce Plan will help to increase the capacity of the LHD to be more responsive to the needs of the Aboriginal community to facilitate better health,” said Ms Donna K Cruickshank, Manager Planning and Service Development, Far West LHD.
“The aim of the competition is to encourage an Aboriginal artist or community member of the Far West to produce an artwork that reflects this commitment and shows the far west and in particular Aboriginal community members being able to build health careers.
“Aboriginal community members of the Far West can reach the sky in their health careers and work to improve their health, their families health and the health of the community,” said Ms Cruickshank.
Artists will be required to submit a story with their entrant that corresponds with the Aboriginal Workforce Plan. The winning artwork will be acquired by the Far West LHD and the winner presented a $500 prize.
Entry is free and artworks must be accompanied by an entry form, which includes details and conditions of the competition. Entries close on 5 August 2016 (COB) and the winner announced on 12 August. The Aboriginal Workforce Plan will be officially launched later in the year.
Entry forms with competition details and conditions have been distributed in the community. For more information or to obtain an entry form please contact Donna K Cruickshank on 08 8080 1512 or email email@example.com
