If you want to find out how you can stay active as you get older, head down to the hospital on Thursday, 27 September 2018 where the Far West LHD Aged Care team will be promoting Active Ageing Week.
An Active Ageing Week information stall will be in the BH Hospital foyer from 10am to 2pm with Far West LHD Aged Care Team members available to talk about how to stay active as you get older gracefully.
“We will have information and giveaways available from a range of agencies to provide information and guide people as they age, to stay active and healthy,” said Liz Perrie, Clinical Nurse Consultant Aged Care, Far West LHD.
Active Ageing Week was initiated by the International Council of Active Aging to celebrate aging and to promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle on a national scale. Organisations provide single or multiple activities, for free to older adults, to share the positive messages of Active Aging Week and showcase their age-friendly wellness programs. The campaign’s overriding goal is to give as many older adults as possible the means to experience wellness activities and exercise in a safe, friendly and fun atmosphere.
Active aging promotes the vision of all individuals — regardless of age, socioeconomic status or health — fully engaging in life within seven dimensions of wellness: emotional, environmental, intellectual/cognitive, physical, professional/vocational, social and spiritual.
