Cancer Care Cafe
Cancer Care Coordinator for Far West, Sandra Turley, will be the guest speaker at the monthly Cancer Care Café to be held on Wednesday (19 October) at Thyme Café in Argent Street.
In Australia about 50% of males and 35% of females will experience a diagnosis of cancer at some time in their life. A diagnosis with cancer and the following treatment journey can be confusing and at time overwhelming for the person with the cancer, their family and carers.
The Cancer Care Café is designed to provide an opportunity for people affected by cancer to get expert information and also to meet with others in a similar situation.
Sandra Turley will be speaking about the range of treatment and support services available for Broken Hill people with a cancer diagnosis, their carers and family.
Mrs Turley has held her current position for over 10 years. Her role includes provision of information, explaining tests and procedures, coordinating specialist appointments, referral to allied health and other services and assistance with travel and accommodation when treatment is away from home. There will be plenty of time for questions at the session.
The Café is free to anybody who may wish to attend. It operates from 10am to 12noon.
