Clinic 9 BH Sexual Health Clinic busy at new BH Community Health Centre

With the festive season ending it’s been a busy start to the year for Clinic 9 Broken Hill Sexual Health Clinic. In September 2018 the Clinic transitioned over to their new location at the Broken Hill Community Health Centre in Sulphide Street (corner of Crystal Street).

A new member of staff – Kendall Jackman – has joined the team bringing with her a wealth of experience and knowledge to our already wonderful team.

Clinic 9 staff provides specialist free and confidential sexual health services for all people. Staff are respectful and inclusive and anonymity is assured.

Clinic 9 offers free confidential services to men and women above 14 years of age. Services offered are testing, treatment and support for sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy testing, information, support and referral, access to the morning after pill, termination advice and referrals, cervical screening testing, contraception advice, vaccination, sexual health information and support, free condoms and lubricant, sex education and the needle syringe program. Clinic 9 also provides Hepatitis services treatment and management and Fibroscans.

Jo Lenton, Clinical Nurse Consultant Sexual Health, said the majority of sexually transmitted infections have no symptoms and are easy to test and treat.

“Clients giving feedback about the service have expressed their ease at testing and the friendly attitude of the staff in the clinic,” said Ms Lenton.

Valentine’s Day on 14 February 2019 is fast approach and while ‘love is in the air’ with people showing their love and affection for each other with red roses, chocolates and teddy bears, it’s also a reminder for people to look after their sexual health.

“Valentine’s Day is a reminder for people to play safe and take the opportunity to get tested at Clinic 9 or their local GP,” said Ms Lenton.

People can make an appointment with staff at Clinic 9 Broken Hill Sexual Health by phoning 08 8080 1100 or walk-in to talk with one of the experienced nurses. Staff are available Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
