Doctors unite at Broken Hill Hospital supporting Third World

Doctors will be celebrating their profession whilst raising money to help colleagues in Third World countries at a “Happy Doctors Day in May” to be held in the Broken Hill Hospital on Wednesday, 24 May.

The event is being hosted by the Broken Hill Health Service to celebrate its doctors and thank them for the wonderful work they do.

The day will feature a barbecue lunch in the foyer courtyard area from 12noon and all are welcome to attend.

The event will also serve as a fundraiser for Twice the Doctor. This initiative raises fund for the delivery of Third World health care, typically to provide a fully qualified doctor or nurse in Third World regions. Donation tins will be available on the day.

Together with UNICEF and the Fred Hollows Foundation, Twice the Doctor will ensure donations are used to empower and employ doctors in Africa, to work in the communities that they already know and understand.

You can also ‘virtually volunteer’ for the day, donating a day’s pay to this cause.  For more information visit  www.twicethedoctor.org.au
