EOI sought from Aboriginal artists for new Community Health Centre

The Broken Hill Health Service (BHHS) Redevelopment project is seeking Expressions of Interest from Aboriginal artists to design key architectural features within the new Community Health Centre being built in Broken Hill.

The new Community Health Centre will be constructed on the corner of Crystal and Sulphide Streets in Broken Hill as part of the $30 million BHHS Redevelopment project.

Artist’s are being called to submit design(s) for a unique feature of the Community Health Centre. Composing a crucial aspect of the redevelopment, the inclusion of these designs and artworks is about showing our ongoing respect to the traditional owners of the land upon which the building will be built.

The artist will be required to submit a design or designs for Corten steel cut out designs and/or internal glass wall images. The Corten steel design will be used on the façade of the building. The internal glass walls will display images applied to an adhesive film and placed onto the glass. There may be opportunity for inclusion of these or other designs into additional components of the build in future.

The specifics can be viewed on the redevelopment flythrough which is on the Far West LHD’s website at http://fwlhd.health.nsw.gov.au under ‘Hot Topics’.

Interested applicants are encourage to complete the one page, Expressions of Interest (EOI) form and confidenitally submit a concept design or photograph of their proposed work by 22 September 2017.

The artist must have a connection with the country upon which Far West LHD is based.

All submissions will be de-identified prior to designs being evaluated by a judging panel. The successful artist/s will enter into a commercial agreement to deliver detailed designs that will then be reproduced for inclusion in the building. The selected artist/s will need to submit full detailed designs by 4 November 2017.

Established artists as well as up and coming artists are encouraged to apply.
