Excellence and innovative work in the Far West Local Health District that has improved patient care and safety will be celebrated by the health service at an Awards ceremony on Friday (17 July).
The Far West Local Health District is celebrating its 2015 Innovation and Staff Recognition Awards with the Innovation Awards having attracted the highest number of nominations since its inception five years ago.
“This shows the ongoing dedication and hard work that our staff put in to improve the services we provide for our consumers,” said Ms Melissa Welsh, Clinical Redesign and Innovation Manager.
“All nominations into the awards are of a high quality and posters summarising each nomination will be on display at the ceremony, which will see the return of the People’s Choice award,” she said.
The 2015 Far West LHD Innovation Awards ceremony will hear from six finalists who have implemented innovative projects that have demonstrated improvements to patient care and safety. The award criteria are based on the NSW Health Innovation awards, with LHD winners being considered for entry into the NSW Health awards later this year.
The FWLHD Innovation Awards finalists for 2015 are:
- Childhood Immunisation, Child and Family Health Service Broken Hill.
- Orthopaedic Wellness Waiting List (OWWL) Program, Allied Health and Nursing, Broken Hill Health Service.
- Schools Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBAT’s) Program, Far West LHD.
- Laughter and Fun: Indigenous Community Mental Health Month Concerts, Far West LHD Mental Health Drug & Alcohol Service.
- Broken Hill Chronic Disease Prevention Group, Dietetics Department Broken Hill Health Service.
- Personal Hygiene Packs, Far West LHD Mental Health Drug & Alcohol Service.
Judging the Awards will be: Ms Zandra Corey, Director Clinical Governance, FWLHD; Ms Sue Kirby PhD, Senior Research Fellow Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health and Ms Dionne Devlin, Consumer Advisor.
The District will also be presenting Staff Recognition Awards on the day. These will include an Excellence in Customer Service Awards and Long Service Recognition Awards to a number of employees from across the District.
The Excellence in Customer Service Award will be presented to an individual or team who has contributed to an exceptional level. A Chief Executive Award for Overall Excellence will also be presented.
A number of employees from across the Far West LHD will be honoured for dedicated service to the organisation with Certificates of Acknowledgement and a gift presented to employees who have served either 10 years, 20 years, 30 years and 40 years.
The Innovation and Staff Recognition Awards ceremony will be held at the UDRH on Friday, 17 July starting at 11am until 2.30pm.
