International Nurses Day – ‘Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Health for All’
The nurses and midwives of the Far West Local Health District will be recognised and acknowledged for their dedication and commitment to care for others at the annual Excellence in Nursing and Midwifery Awards for 2019, celebrated as part of International Nurses Day (IND).
The Awards will be celebrated at a ceremony at each facility across Far West LHD on Friday, 10 May 2018 – two days before International Nurses Day, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.
This year’s International Council of Nurses (ICN) theme for IND is ‘Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Health for All’. The Health for All theme means not just the availability of health services, but a complete state of physical and mental health that enables a person to lead a socially and economically productive life.
“International Nurses Day (IND) is our special day in which we acknowledge our nurses and midwives and take special note of the dedication and commitment they have in striving to fulfil that theme ‘Health for All’ for all their patients,” said the Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery for Far West LHD, Ms Dale Sutton.
“We are very proud of all our nurses and midwives and it is a pleasure to celebrate their achievements with our annual awards, to coincide with International Nurses Day,” she said.
“On behalf of the LHD, I wish to acknowledge all our nurses and midwives and extend congratulations to those nominated in the awards and the award recipients,” said Ms Sutton.
