HACC Community Transport clients have a new bus

Wentworth HACC Community Transport are delighted their clients will be travelling in style after taking delivery of a new bus.

The brand new Toyota Coaster can seat 17 passengers and is easily and quickly adaptable to include one or two wheelchair passengers.

“We are extremely pleased to take delivery of our new bus as we provide a door-to-door service for our clients allowing easier and safer community access that many others take for granted,” said, Jenny Gledhill, Co-ordinator Wentworth HACC Services.

People with disabilities (including dementia and mental health conditions), the frail aged and their carers, Home and Community Care clients and disadvantaged clients will soon be using the bus to attend social activities, shopping and appointments.

It is also used to bring clients into the Seniors Activities at the Wentworth Hospital, Men on the Move and the Warm Water exercise programs. Occasionally, it will be used to take clients to special events and also used by other organisations such as the Hospital Auxiliary, Senior Citizens and the Red Cross Auxiliary.

The bus is driven by HACC services staff and volunteers and was purchased by Wentworth District Community Transport from client contributions over the last 12 years.

More information on accessing the service can be obtained by calling Jenny or Tanyia on 5027 7125 between 9am and 4.30pm weekdays.
