Hospital roofs damaged by 2016 hail storm to be replaced

Staff, patients and residents in the vicinity of the Broken Hill Health Service campus are advised that the roof of the hospital and campus buildings will be replaced over the next six months.

Hutchinson Builders were the successful tenderers for the work to replace the roofs of the health service campus buildings following damage received in the 11 November 2016 hail storm. Local sub-contractors will be involved in the project.

“We are extremely pleased that the work to replace the damaged roofs of the hospital and surrounding buildings will start,” said BHHS General Manager, Mr Ken Barnett.

“I would like to ask visitors to the hospital and patients to be mindful of this work whilst it is in progress and obey any traffic directions regarding the work sites,” he said.

The work is scheduled to start at the end of January 2019 and take about six months to complete. There are no anticipated disruptions to services during the work.

The replacement of the roofs is being funded through an insurance claim.
