Nominations open for Far West LHD 2018 Excellence in Nursing and Midwifery Awards

The dedication, passion, commitment and hard work of the nurses and midwives across the Far West Local Health District will again be celebrated through the 2018 Excellence in Nursing and Midwifery Awards.

The awards recognise nurses and midwives for their excellence in practice and for the significant contribution that they make to the profession, their teams and the community through their practice, leadership and research endeavours to improve health outcomes for our communities across the District.

Members of the public may nominate staff members for an award, said Ms Dale Sutton Executive Director of Nursing & Midwifery, General Manager Lower Western Sector.

“You may wish to acknowledge and recognise the nurses and midwives who have demonstrated outstanding patient care and leadership,” said Ms Sutton “That also includes those who have worked in collaborative partnerships or teams to achieve improved outcomes and support to families and carers across Far West LHD communities.”

Nominations for the awards open today (26 March 2018) and close on the 20 April 2018 at 5pm. Members of the public can access the awards through the Far West LHD website (www.fwlhd.health.nsw.gov.au and go to Hot Topics) or pick up a nomination form at any of the facilities across Far West LHD.

The Awards will be celebrated at a ceremony at each facility across Far West LHD on Friday, 11 May 2018 – the day before International Nurses Day, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. All the finalists and winners will come together to celebrate their achievements with family, friends and colleagues. All award winners will be automatically nominated for the NSW Excellence in Nursing & Midwifery Awards 2018. Midwives across Far West LHD will celebrate International Midwives Day on the 4 May 2018.

“The awards initiative has become an integral part of the Far West LHD and state-wide nursing and midwifery calendar and we are very excited to announce the open of nominations,” said Ms Sutton.

“We hope that the public, as well as LHD staff, take the time to nominate a nurse and/or midwife they believe is deserving of special recognition in the excellence awards.”
