Pancakes for a Good Cause

Pancake Day at BH Hospital on Tuesday, 28 February

Community members and hospital staff are invited to come to the Broken Hill Hospital to celebrate Pancake Day and assist in raising money to support local people who have been diagnosed with cancer.

The Pancake Day will be held on Tuesday, 28 February from 11.30am to 1pm in the hospital foyer.

The Broken Hill Y’s Men’s Club will be assisting Cancer Service staff in cooking pancakes and preparing a variety of delicious toppings. The pancakes will be on sale at a cost of $5.

Sandra Turley, Cancer Care Coordinator for the Far West LHD and Treasurer of the Broken Hill and District Community Cancer Network said: “A cancer diagnosis may result in financial challenges as a result of treatment, travel and time away from work. The fund raising effort enables some additional support to be provided for those in need.”

Barry Powell, President of the Broken Hill Y’s Men’s Club said his members were happy to support this initiative as it was of assistance to local people. The club already provides small food packages to people who are traveling for treatment.
