Popular Tai Chi classes to start at new Community Health Centre

The extremely popular Tai Chi for Health program, run by the Far West Local Health District is starting a drop in class at the new Community Health Centre, Sulphide Street.

The Tai Chi for Health class will be held every Tuesday at 10am starting from 12 February 2019 and all interested community members are invited to attend.

Volunteer Tai Chi Leader Gail Turner is thrilled with the response from the community and the interest shown in the popular program.

‘I’m very happy that I am able to share my love of Tai Chi, with our community. Over the last four years the classes have increased. This new drop-in class will be the first class held at the new community health centre. The new class will complement the very successful classes that are held at the South Golf Club”.

Far West LHD Health Promotion Officer, Rebecca Crawford, said: “The benefits of regularly practicing Tai Chi are improved fitness, muscle strength, coordination and flexibility; it improves balance and decreases risk of falls; it eases pain and stiffness and helps you to relax and feel better.”
