Rex Airlines joins Far West LHD in recognition of Health Service volunteers

Two local health service volunteers will be winging their way to Sydney to attend the 2016 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards with Rex Airlines sponsoring their flights.

Far West LHD will be represented at the Awards by finalists Lesley Sumsion, Dementia/Delirium & Palliative Care Volunteer – Regional winner Senior Volunteer of the Year and Interim President Betty Sammut will be representing the Broken Hill Kiosk Auxiliary – Regional winner of the Team of the Year.

Rex Airlines has generously sponsored two return flights in recognition of the volunteers.

Far West LHD Volunteer Manager, Mrs Mary Leehane, said the health service was extremely pleased that Rex Airlines have once again assisted the volunteers to attend the State finals awards in Sydney.

“It is exciting to have our volunteers in the State Volunteer of the Year Award finals and equally that such a prominent organisation like Rex Airlines are again supporting our volunteers and joining the health service in recognising their unselfish contribution to the health service and community,” she said.

“Our volunteers realise that they are competing against very strong competition from across NSW and although they would love to bring a State win back to Broken Hill, as was the case last year, they are all extremely pleased and honoured to go to Sydney to represent Far West LHD and their community,” said Mrs Leehane.

The 2016 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards ceremony will be held in Sydney on Friday, 2 December 2016.
