Women’s Health nursing services at the hospital will soon be provided from the Child and Family Health Centre on Oxide Street to bring all like services under the same roof.
The move will make women’s health services more easily accessible to the community and support a wellness and early intervention focus.
“The opportunity arose to co-locate the women’s health nursing service with a number of other primary health programs provided by Broken Hill Health Service,” said Ms Jane Corcoran, BHHS General Manager.
“Clients using the service will have close access to similar services on the same premises which include post natal, early intervention and primary care’’.
“Women’s Health nurses Eleanore Williamson and Leanne Hastwell will continue to provide the same level of service for women in the Broken Hill community,” she said.
Services available to women include reproductive health screening, pap smears, breast examinations, pelvic floor assessments, pregnancy tests; post natal checks, pre-conception and antenatal advice, pregnancy choices, contraception choices, emergency contraception and health information, counselling and referrals.
The service is free and operates Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm from the Child & Family Centre on Oxide Street. Appointments can be made by telephoning 8082 6111.
The Women’s Health nursing service will operate from the Centre as of Monday, 27 October 2014.
