Women’s Health Week: positive change starts with confidence

Being confident in all areas of your life has significant health benefits. Large numbers of women struggle with confidence, which may negatively influence their health.

The Jean Hailes Women’s Health Week 2014 (1-5 September) is all about confidence. Studies show that people that believe in themselves have less sickness and better mental health. Women’s Health week is a time for all women to make their health a priority with support from health professionals.

All women are invited to go online during the week at womenshealthweek.com.au for news articles, videos, pod casts, recipes, tools and to hear from women’s health experts. Women are sharing what confidence means to them on the website. Each day will have a different focus and explore how confidence affects everyday life and health.

The Far West LHD is also celebrating Women’s Health Week by promoting the Women’s Health Service at The Child and Family Health Centre.

This service is free and operates Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. The services available to women are reproductive health screening, pap smears, breast examinations, pelvic floor assessments, pregnancy tests; post natal checks, pre- conception and antenatal advice, pregnancy choices, contraception choices, emergency contraception and health information, counselling and referrals.
